The Ultimate Spring Cleaning Checklist For Your Roof
Throughout the winter, your roof takes a beating from harsh temperatures to intense winter storms. Spring is the perfect time to ensure your roof is fully equipped to do its job for the next year – protecting your family.
Here are our top 3 roof cleaning tasks to add to your checklist:
Clear your gutters.
While it’s probably the least-liked chore of all time, clearing your gutters of all the debris that has accumulated there is important to prevent damage.
Dark, wet gutters are also the perfect breeding grounds for insects and rodents. The cleaning process is simple – with gloved hands, pull out leaves and other debris until water can flow freely through the system.
Check for damage.
In Georgia, we can get some pretty severe storms and high winds that knock over the sturdiest of branches and trees.
Check your roof for any broken or missing shingles, large branches that may have fallen, and other signs of damage. If you think your roof has damage, call a reputable roofing company to assess your roof.
Clean mold off your roof.
It’s not uncommon for mold and algae growth to be found on roofs after winter. If you notice any, don’t panic! Try spraying your roof with equal parts water and bleach to clear off the mold.
After an hour, rinse the mixture off your roof with water from a hose. If that didn’t work, consult a professional on what to do.
